New Year’s celebrations have ended for the year & we’ve entered what the Christians call “Ordinary Time,” & with that our hiatus here at Food & Pussy comes to an end. Yes, folks, it’s been almost two weeks since our last update. We’d feel shame if we didn’t have so much fucking fun over that time. I was shocked this morning when my alarm went off and I saw that it’s the 11th. Wow. 12 days felt like 24 hours.
Anyway, what did we miss? David Bowie died today. I guess it’s a bummer but I didn’t really know the guy, so I guess I don’t care. I mean, we’ve been wearing out our vinyl copy of The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars since the Food & Pussy International Headquarters opened a few months ago, but you could have told me Bowie was dead back then & I would have said ¨Oh, that makes sense, yeah.” I don’t pay all that much attention. But, anyway, we love Ziggy Stardust over here & we think that “Starman” is one of the finest jams ever grooved into wax. So peace out there, David. It’s cool that you died at 69.
Lemmy died, too. Fuckin’ Lemmy, man. Thanks for reassuring the masses that every now & then a person can drink a bottle of Jack Daniels a day and live ‘til 70. Rock.
Am I the only one who thinks social media is dumb on days when famous people die? Everybody shares the same 5 links to news stories pertaining to the death & says something cute like “So long, you beautiful man” & what? I’m supposed to “like” this or something? The only people who should be speaking about the deceased are those that partied with the now-corpse when he/she was still living & breathing & partying. And you know what else, while we’re on the subject? Why do people say things like “David Bowie gave us these beautiful songs”? I paid $5 for my copy ofZiggy Stardust at the record shop down the street. David Bowie didn’t give me shit. I gave $5 for those jams! David Bowie got paid. And laid. Good for him!
(Observe the total hypocrisy in the words scrawled above by this asshole who wrote 2 paragraphs about David Bowie while whining about the overabundance of people-who-never-knew-or-partied-with-David-Bowie writing things about David Bowie. It seems fitting to include the fact that the author is currently listening to David Bowie--a fact which may not be hypocritical, but certainly adds to the overall feeling of smug elitism coming from the general direction that arrogant fart sniffer, the author. To think that he thinks that we’re not on to his games. See how he’s even embedded a video of his favorite David Bowie song instead of simply posting the link to his Facebook & how now he’ll encourage folks to click through a link to this {www.foodandpussy.com} website & thus perpetuate his fantasy that he runs a professional & oft visited website that people voluntarily travel to during their daily cruises through the world-wide-web so that they ((the hypothetical folks visiting the website, in this case)) might be enlightened by the fresh & exciting takes on the daily happenings & goings-ons in the world that he ((the author)) lays out on the homepage in something he quite blandly has titled the “F&P Daily”? Who does this guy think he’s fooling?)
Well, happy Ordinary Time folks. Hope yours is EXTRA-ordinary! See what I did there? Ha!
