Taste testing the forbidden fruit.

12/24/15

Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas! The F&P International Headquarters has been shut down for a week or so now, because we believe in making the most of our holiday celebrations. But today is Christmas Eve & I would feel remiss if I didn’t reach into my sack & pull out a few words for you kind people.

Here in the midwest we’ve yet to see a lick of snow, so it’s hard for us to believe it’s Christmas. I’d like to blame the weather for the fact that I waited to do all my shopping until today, but this is what happens every year. I always think I’m going to come up with some really cool gift ideas for people! What happens every year, though, is that I buy everyone booze last minute. I should just buy the booze around Thanksgiving & enter the Christmas season worry free. But is a guy like me going to be able to hold onto a bunch of nice bottles of booze for a whole month without drinking them? Doubtful. I was put on this earth to procrastinate.

Anyway, being a man who loves his 70s-era outlaw country, one of my favorite films of all time is Heartworn Highways. It’s a documentary about Guy Clark, Townes Van Zandt, David Allan Coe, Steve Earle, Charlie Daniels, & Rodney Crowell, among others. Well, the film ends with a clip of some of these dudes (& chick--Susanna Clark, in all her raging glory, was there as well) drunkenly singing “Silent Night” at Guy & Susanna’s on Christmas Eve. Brings a god damn tear to my eye.

Another, more hilarious, of my favorite Christmas tunes is George Strait’s “Christmas Cookies” because I like any song that includes cookies & allusions to hanky-panky.

So Happy Christmas, as that hippy once said! Enjoy it, folks! If your family becomes too much to bear, he’s to hoping you’ve got a corner bar open near you. Much love! Ho! Ho! Ho! and shit!

Oh, also we’ve got two new things for you to check out from contributor Nate Jacobs!

Merry Christmas!
